St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College(SPHMMC)

Welcome to St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC), a beacon of hope and innovation in healthcare and medical education in Ethiopia. Established to meet the nation’s growing demand for skilled medical professionals and advanced healthcare, SPHMMC is now a cornerstone of excellence in education, research, and specialized clinical services.
St. Paul’s Hospital was established in 1968 through a visionary collaboration between Emperor Haile Selassie I and the German Evangelical Church. Initially serving as a general and referral hospital, it provided essential healthcare services to patients from all corners of Ethiopia, focusing on general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics.
Acknowledging the critical shortage of medical professionals in Ethiopia, the Federal Ministry of Health transformed St. Paul’s Hospital into a teaching institution. In 2008, the college was officially established, positioning SPHMMC as one of the few institutions in the country to seamlessly integrate education, research, and clinical services.
